Work like its your last day

Everyday I get paid is a day that I don’t deserve to. I started think about my job that way a couple of years ago and it rather freeing.

I can feel that way because I put little or no effort into it. Entire weeks go by when I all I day is surf the internet and occasionally hide out and text from the bathroom.

What’s nice about this approach is that if/when I get fired some day, I’ll be like, “Well, at least I made it last this long.” (At least I hope that’s how I will react. In reality I will probably cry.)

I have enough money saved that I could take six months off and it really wouldn’t be too much of a strain. It would be the kick-in-the-ass I need. In my mind I’ve already quit, they just don’t know it yet.

The thing is, if they want to keep paying me, who am I to stop them? I’ll just keep stretching the limits of the system until they break. (If they ever do…they certainly didn’t at my last job…)
