After writing in a previous post how I invested $8,000 in my Roth 401k without ANY sales charges, I figured it would be nice to do a little check in and see how things stand.
Here are the stocks I invested in, how much they cost, how much they are worth, and how much I am up (or down) so far.
- Red Hat Inc (RHAT) cost: $951.97 value:$1,126.54 change: +18.34%
- Yahoo! (YHOO) cost: $986.63 value:$1,147.60 change: +16.32%
- JPMorgan Chase (JPM) cost: 962.18 value: $1,033.40 change: +7.4%
- Toll Brothers Inc (TOL) cost: $984.16 value:$1,021.76 change: +3.82%
- Quest Diagnostics Inc(DGX) cost: $1,024.07 value: $1,054.00 change:+2.92%
- Pepsico Inc.(PEP) cost:$1,021.09 value:$1,034.27 change:+1.29%
- Pfizer Inc(PFE) cost:$1,028.41 value: $1,023.44 change:-0.45%
- Altria Group Inc (MO) cost:$1,043.36 value:$1,032.00 change:-1.09%
I invested $8,000 and my Roth is worth $8,481.63. Not bad for around a month and a half!
I’m happy with my investments and will most likely stick with them through 2007. For the most part, I tried to buy stocks that were beaten down at the end of 2006, covered different sectors, and a few have some good dividend yields.
I’ve read a lot about technology going to be big this year, and so far Yahoo! and Red Hat are by far doing the best. I’ll update in month or two with another check up.

You want to take control of my IRA? It’s in a money market product that makes nothing… has about $8,000 in it.

Hey Shannon…thanks for stopping by. Hope things are well in Las Vegas.
Greg…give me a call. You should at least put the money in some mutual funds.
