Hello all–
Sorry to have dropped off of the face of earth for a few months. I did go on vacation…permanently. Yes, that’s right, they found out about the blog and fired me. FIRED ME. One day, my manager stopped my office mid-post and asked to see me in an office…the corner office. I knew that wasn’t a good sign.
When I walked in, I saw HIS manager seated with a bunch of paperwork in front of him. Basically, i was told that people in the networking had noticed me visiting certain sites and alerted my manager. He found THE BLOG!! He was VERY disappointed in me. I accepted responsibilty, but did make sure to point out that they had given me NOTHING to do for teh four months I was there He knew that they could have utilized me better, but I should have taken more initiative. Blah-bitty-blee, blah-bitty-blahhhh…
I was fired ‘with cause’ and told that if I were to try for unemployment, they would fight it. I signed some paper saying I admit to what I did, etc. Then I was told that they were going to be monitoring the site going forward and looking through past posts to see if I ever wrote the name of the company I was working for.
One funny moment:
My manager walked me back to my desk and told me to pick up my personal belongings. I stood there and finally said, “I don’t have anything in here.” I had nothing…no pictures, no coffe mugs, NOTHING. haaaa
So, I was unemployed for 4 months and missed out on thousands of dollars. Fortunately, in the end I got a pretty awesome job within walking distance of where I live in Downtown Columbus. I not going to get all chiched and say that getting fired was the best thing that ever happened. It worked out well in the end, but it also did suck pretty hard.
I just logged in for the first time since then and was surprised by how many emails/comments I got. I know I’m one of those lame people who suddenly stops blogging and it’s kind of sh*tty to the readers that I had (have?).
So there you have it…comments, questions, suggestions? Do you still want to hear what I have to say?
